92 Points - 2007 Baton Cardonnay Heintz Vineyard
90 Points - 2007 Baton Pinot Noir Laguna Ridge
"This is the personal winemaking project of Bill Vyenielo, who was ....at Peter Michael for many years. These first releases are very impressive. The outstanding 2006 Chardonnay Heintz Vineyard is a strong effort for the vintage. If offers beautiful popcorn, honeysuckle, marmalade and lemon oil notes as well as a hint of minerality. The exuberant 2007 Chardonnay Heintz Vineyard reveals tremendous fruit purity, a multilayered moutfeel , full bodied power, gorgeous zesty acidity, and plenty of tropical fruit as well as minerality. It should drink nicely for 4-5 years.
"The deep, medium to full-bodied 2006 Pinot Noir Laguna Ridge, exhibits soft, plum, fig, and black cherry fruit interwoven with notions of sassafras and clove. Powerful as well as elegant and beautifully balanced, it is undeniably a fine effort in this irregular vintage for Pinot noir. Consume it over the next 3-4 years."

93 Points - 2006 Baton Chardonnay Heintz Vineyard
Aromas: beautiful nose of pineapple, citrus peel, wet granite, nuts and salt. Visually appealing with a slight green apple tint
Palate: citrus, toast with hints of licorice and mango
Impression: excellent framework combining the rich tropical fruit with admirable acidity
94 Points - 2007 Baton Chardonnay Heintz Vineyard
Aromas: more seamless than the excellent 2006, smoothly integrated and polished toast, citrus and grains
Palate: beeswax, blossoms and butter cookie combine in a richly framed melange of carefully balanced oak toast and understated, elegant fruit. Again, the acidity adds to the seamless experience
Impression: a wine hitting on all cylinders already like this will have no trouble finding well-sorted cellars to crawl in to. The keyword here is pedigree.
91 Points - 2006 Baton Pinot Noir Laguna Ridge
Aromas: cherry, hints of bark and spice
Palate: pretty entry with elegant acidity framing the bright, juicy pomegranate and spice-scented tea highlights
Impression: overall nicely put together and would have been better with a bit more fruit volume on the mid palate, but why quibble?
92 Points - 2007 Baton Pinot Noir Laguna Ridge
Aromas: as with the Chardonnay from this vintage, the Pinot exhibits more inherent richness and smoothness to the well formed black cherry, raspberry aromas
Palate: More density here with seamless appeal of sweet cherry, pomegranate wrapped around well integrated acidity
Impression: This is what I was looking for in the premiere release, just a more holistically complete wine.
